Beloit Turner football snaps 16-game losing streak Friday
A long losing streak came to an end early Saturday for the Beloit Turner football team.
Seth Smith connected with Nick Bingham on a 23-yard scoring play with just more than a minute to play as Turner rallied in the fourth quarter for a 13-12 nonconference win over Southwestern. The win was Turner's first since a 52-28 nonconference win over Milwaukee Marshall in the second game of the 2011 season and snapped a 16-game losing streak.
Southwestern took a 12-0 lead into the fourth, but Turner (1-1) got within six on Nate Loomis' 72-yard touchdown reception with 2:28 left to play. After forcing Southwestern to punt on the ensuing possession, Turner needed only four plays to score.
Cole Gerber's interception sealed the Trojans' win.
