15 DDHS grads earn Advanced Placement honors
DELAVAN — The Delavan-Darien High School graduating class of 2013 had 15 students receive Advanced Placement Scholar honors after this year's round of college-level tests.
Named as AP Scholars with Distinction were: Lauren Kuntz, Samuel Logterman, Hayley Severson and Michael Vander Zee. The award goes to students who received an average score of at least 3.5 on the maximum 5-point test and had scores of 3 or higher on five or more of the exams.
Receiving AP Scholars with Honors marks were Carrie Getka, Alexandra Kort, Caleb Marse and Kishan Patel. Those four students had an average score of at least 3.25 on all exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of the exams.
Named as AP Scholars were Nathan Dobratz, Theresa Hartogh, Ethan Lewandowski, Rebekah Olson, Tonette Seitz, Nicky Sterken and Schuyler Williams. AP scholars receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP tests.
Passing AP tests with scores of 3 or higher often results in students receiving college credit in the subject area. Students typically take AP test their junior and senior years of high school.
The 15 Advanced Placement courses offered at DDHS include: AP Studio Art/2D; AP Studio Art: Drawing/3D; AP English 12; AP Calculus; AP Statistics; AP Music Theory; AP Biology; AP Chemistry; AP Physics “C”; AP Government and Politics; AP European History; AP Psychology; AP Spanish; and AP French.
