3 hurt in I-90/39 crash Monday
TOWN OF FULTON—Three people were injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction accident that blocked southbound Interstate 90/39 near Edgerton on Monday morning.
Kalinn M. Harrison, 41, of Edgerton, was treated and released at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville.
The State Patrol said Alexander L. Delguerico, 17, of Edgerton, also was taken to Mercy with non-life-threatening injuries. Mercy does not give condition reports on minors.
A third injured person who apparently was not transported for medical care was Rochelle M. Stiles, 22, of Chippewa Falls.
The accident occurred around 10:52 a.m. near mile marker 163. The State Patrol reported that Delguerico was driving a Volkswagen Passat with Harrison as a passenger. He merged on to I-90/39 from Highway 59 and saw a semitrailer truck slowing in the right lane in front of him.
Delguerico swerved into the left lane to avoid a collision, but the car's bumper hit the semitrailer, which caused the car to spin out of control in front of another car in the left lane, according to the State Patrol.
Stiles was driving the second car. She braked but collided with the Volkswagen, causing it to roll over.
The truck driver was listed as Roger A. Vaade of Janesville. He was not injured.
The Interstate reopened around 12:30 p.m., State Patrol Sgt. Craig Lindgren said.
Edgerton police and EMS and Rock County sheriff's deputies also responded to the crash.
