What time is too early to mow?

I was walking Molly, our cairn terrier, on Sunday morning when I noticed a woman in our neighborhood mowing her lawn. It was about 7:30 a.m. Gee, I thought, she must not like her neighbors. I'd never consider mowing that early on a weekend, particularly a Sunday. Maybe 8 a.m. at the earliest on a Saturday—but only if I had a good reason—and probably no earlier than 9 a.m. on a Sunday. I realize some folks like to sleep in, particularly on weekends.

Then, the other day, a neighbor started a mower. I glanced at the clock. It read 6:37 a.m. Heck, the grass was still sopping wet. This was a weekday, but still. My wife was asleep, but not for long.

So I ask you, dear readers: How early is too early to mow?
