Walker opponent criticizes behavior of singing protesters

I am a teacher who has voted against Scott Walker twice and would do so 1,000 more times. I take great exception, however, to the behavior of the singing protesters at the Capitol. It is behavior like this that gives the rest of us liberal anti-Walker citizens bad names.

The only reason I am actually taking the time to write in, however, is because I find the comments of Friar Phil Gerboc so disgustingly reprehensible. To compare the arrests at the capitol to Nazi Germany is ignorant and idiotic. These people are getting arrested voluntarily. They could avoid arrest by simply obtaining a free permit; the Jewish people of Europe in the '1930s and '40s had no such luxury.

The punishment for protesting at the Capitol without a permit is $200. The punishment for being Jewish in Nazi Germany was torture and death. I'm tempted to accuse these protestors of being self-centered, self-congratulator, and self-righteous, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they are actually just standing up for what they believe in and trying to make our state a better place.

I just hope they keep their place in history in perspective. Even today, there are protests going on around the world where the consequences are much, much more severe. Maybe they should take one day off to think about how lucky they are and gain some proper perspective.
