BURLINGTON--Janesville American Legion Post 205 swept a doubleheader with Burlington on Sunday in two games that couldn’t have been more different.

In the first game, Janesville jumped on its opponents with eight runs in the second inning and wound up winning 10-0 in five innings.
The second saw Burlington go up 11-2 after three innings, and it looked like it might be a shortened affair, as well.

But Janesville scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull within 11-9, and it was game on, with Riley Quinn pitching well in his first mound appearance of the season.

With the score 11-3, Brandon Hughes and Justin Graham each had RBI singles to start the rally, and Wyatt Olson finished it with an RBI double to cut the deficit to two.

“We started feeling like we had a shot,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said.

Post 205 added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 13-11, which was the final score. Quinn worked 3 2/3 innings, striking out six and allowing three runs to earn the victory. Logan Coulter pitched 2 scoreless innings to get the save.

In game one, Alex Faust threw four strong innings, allowing just three hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Cullen Osmond went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Conner Osmond also had a double with a pair of runs and an RBI.

Janesville (14-5-1) is back in action tonight, hosting Waterford in a 7:30 p.m. game at Riverside Park.
