Newspaper workers use the term "stand-alone photos" to describe photographs that are displayed on their own and aren't necessarily associated with any stories. These photos add color to newspaper pages. More important, they document candid slices of life from the community that might otherwise go unrecorded.

Janesville Craig defeated Kimberly 2-0 in the Division 1 state championship game Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
The Golden "K" Kiwanis Flag Ceremony was held Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Kiwanis Park in Janesville. The ceremony is held annually close to the time of Flag Day to properly retire soiled American flags. Approximately 600 flags were deposited in the bin set up at Kiwanis Park and retired in the ceremony.
