Body found in state forest confirmed as that of Elkhorn man
ELKHORN—The Walworth County Sheriff's Office confirmed Tuesday that the body found Aug. 17 in the Kettle Moraine Forest was that of Russ Delorme of Elkhorn.
Capt. Dana Nigbor, of the sheriff's office also confirmed that the death was from an intentionally self-inflicted gunshot.
The sheriff's office previously gave only a tentative identification and was waiting for a check of dental records to confirm the identity.
A hiker found the body in a heavily wooded area well off the marked trail, the sheriff's office reported previously.
Delorme, 48, had been reported missing Aug. 1. He was last seen July 13, and his car was found two days later in the state forest's Esterly Road parking lot.
