Rock River League: Raptors win, will host playoff game
The Milton Junction Pub Raptors beat Watertown 7-3 in the final game of their Rock River League season Sunday to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Southern Division and home-field advantage in the first game of the RRL playoffs to be played Saturday.
Joe and Josh Shere combined to drive in five of the seven Milton runs. Josh Shere's two-run triple in the sixth inning gave Milton a 6-1 lead, and Joe Shere had three hits in his first three at-bats to give him hits in eight straight at-bats over two games.
On the mound, Joe, a three-time pitcher of the year in the division, allowed two runs in seven innings in his first start of the summer.
“We called on Joe, and he returned to that form and threw a really good game for us,” Milton coach Doug Welch said. “Offensively, they (the Sheres) have really been carrying us these last three weeks.”
The win means Milton will host third-seeded Clyman in the first game of the Rock River League Southern Division double-elimination playoffs at 2 p.m. Saturday. Neosho is the top seed in the South, and the Madison Black Sox are the fourth.
