Vivian M. Eagan, age 94, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2014, at Hearthside Assisted Living, where she has resided the past year. Viv was born April 28, 1920, in Soldier's Grove, WI, the daughter of the late Earl and Chloe (Young) Lenox. After graduating high school, she attended Nursing School in Prairie du Chien, and worked as a Practical Nurse. On July 1, 1943, she married Orville G. Eagan at Ft. Breckinridge, KY. He preceded her in death in 1980. Viv was a person who absolutely lived for her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also will be remembered by her neighbors and friends for her positive outlook on life, and also for her kind and loving way. She was the matriarch to all in her Lincoln St. neighborhood, providing a friendly ear and cinnamon rolls for those in need. Viv enjoyed gardening, was a wonderful cook, enjoyed watching baseball, and was a big fan of the Brewers! She was an avid walker into her mid-80's, logging several miles a day. Viv moved to Prairie du Chien in 2005, to live near her dear friend, Roy George, until his passing in 2013.

Viv is survived by her three children: Karen (Dan) Eagan Randolph of Atlanta, GA, Jim (Laura) Eagan, and Joe (Val) Eagan, both of Janesville; her two sisters, Jackie Cremin of Janesville, and Sharon (Steve) Maloney of Black River, NY; her six beloved grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Halicki, Meg (Wilson) Sheldon, David (Kristen) Eagan, Annie (William Eckert) Eagan, Jill (David) Baran and Erin (Sabrina Sims) Eagan; five dear great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including her very dear friends, Anna Brzezinski and Bob and Sharon Nowatzski. Besides her husband, parents, and friend, Roy George, she was preceded in death by her son, David G. Eagan on Jan. 17, 1995; her sisters, Margie and Donna; and a brother, Terry.

Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 315 Cherry St., with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 5 PM on Sunday at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, or on Monday from 10 until 10:30 AM at the CHURCH.

Vivian's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff and friends at Hearthside for the tremendous love and care shown to Viv in her time there!
