Jacque P. Dampier, Sr., age 79, a longtime resident of Yuma, AZ, and a former Janesville resident, passed away Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014, at the Yuma Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Jacque was born March 12, 1935, in Janesville, the son of the late Wilmot E. Dampier, Sr. and Catherine (Comstock) Dampier Schultz. He attended school in Janesville, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Sergeant Major 1st Class after 27 years of service. On April 15, 1959, he married the former Marlene Otjenbruns in Beatrice, NE. She preceded him in death on July 14, 1997. He later married the former Sheranne B. Engelhardt on March 20, 2002, in Yuma. Until his illness, Jacque loved his work as an Instructor of Culinary Arts at Arizona Western College, and had never had a position he enjoyed as much!

Jacque is survived by his wife, Sheranne; his son, Jacque P. Dampier, Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; his step-daughter, Linda (Dave) Carver of Los Alamos, NM; his step-son, Todd (Katie) Aschenbach of Marne, MI; Miroslava (Mirka) Jenikova, who was an exchange student from the Czech Republic, who looked at Jacque as her "American Dad"; his four brothers: Donald (Tana) Dampier, Ted (Ebba) Dampier, David (Stephen) Dampier, and Larry Dampier; his two sisters, Jeanette Arnold and Michelle (Don) Nelson, both of Janesville; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two step-sons, Harry and Mark; and his two brothers, Wilmot Dampier, Jr. and Kenneth Dampier.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES. Burial with Full Miltary Rites by Kienow-Hilt Post 1621 will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 12 P.M. until the time of the service at 1 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jacque's name may be made to the Arizona Western College Foundation, for the Jacque Dampier Culinary Arts Scholarship, P.O. Box 929, Yuma, AZ 85366.
