George D. Griffis, 84, of Milton, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Rock Haven Nursing Home, Janesville. George was born on March 31, 1930, in Illinois, to the late Harvey and Minnie (Tiffany) Griffis. He graduated from Milton Union High School in 1948, and entered college. He, then, joined the Air Force and after his time there, would serve 20 years in the National Guard. George worked as a Design Engineer for Gilman for over 20 years. He also worked for Hill Rockford for a number of years. On Sept, 22, 1960, George married Mildred "Millie" Kelly in Milton, WI. He loved to golf and was a member of the Gilman Golf League for many years. His first love was flying and he enjoyed taking his family flying and watching air shows. He enjoyed boating and dancing and anything else as long as Millie was with him. He was an avid Packer fan as well.

George is survived by his loving wife, Mildred "Millie" Griffis of Milton; a son, Jeffrey (Shari) Griffis of Afton, WI; ex daughter-in-law, Sheryl Ferger of Janesville, WI; grandchildren: Shane Fobes, Shannon Fobes, Shawn (Brenda) Fobes, Christopher (Jessica) Griffis, Kelly Griffis, Danielle Griffis; sister-in-law, Marimarie Anderson; nieces, Mary (Rick) Jurgens-Jones and Terri (Jack) Zadoka; and many great-grandchildren and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Michael Fobes and Christopher Griffis; sisters: Shirley, Lucille, Maxine; brother, Harvey Griffis; and one grandson, Jason Fobes.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Monday, June 30, 2014, at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON, with Pastor Steve Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Junction Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 11 AM until the start of the service.
