Quiet bats doom Beloit Snappers
One-run games are becoming the norm for Kane County and Beloit.
The two Midwest League baseball teams went to extra innings again Friday night, and the Cougars snapped a six-game losing streak against the Snappers with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings at Pohlman Field.
The past four games between the two teams have all been decided by one run.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning before their offenses went into hibernation. Beloit mustered just three hits, including Jaycob Brugman’s first-inning, two-run homer.
In the top of the 10th, Jacob Hannemann led off with a single to right field for the Cougars and moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk, Shawon Dunston Jr. hit a line-drive single to left field to plate the game-winning run.
The two teams meet again tonight at 7 p.m.
