Your Views: Editorial on Billy McCoy leads to thoughts on city leaders
In your June 7 editorial, I thought “Too often, McCoy spouts off without knowing or understanding all the facts,” was a bit harsh. Facts can be very subjective. You did go on to make the point that the city council might need to reconsider some recent decisions, and how it conducts business.
Some council members will tell you they were elected to conduct city business and that’s what they’re going to do. What some don’t care to realize is that they are there in many cases because they were the lesser of two or three evils at the ballot box. My opinion of the current decision makers:
City council: Four lean toward arrogance, three willing to listen.
City manager: Uses plenty of management buzz phrases. Let’s see how he handles the rest of the year. He seemed a bit cold on the Jay Winzenz issue, but there are always two sides to a story, most of which will likely remain confidential, as it probably should.
