Got dairy? Enter the farm bureau's contest
It's time to get your dairy fix on and grab a breakfast with pancakes and all the fixins'. June is Dairy Month events unofficially began with the Cows on the Concourse event in Madison, held the first Saturday of the month in conjunction with the Dane County Farmers Market.
Up next are the county dairy breakfasts -- Rock and Walworth counties host their events on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
Walworth County's event is sponsored by the farm bureau, which will host the third annual coffeecake contest in conjunction with the breakfast.
Entries must be prepared using at least two dairy products (no mixes). Take a piece of your coffee cake on a 6-inch paper plate along with your recipe (please highlight dairy products and have your name, address and phone number clearly printed on back of card) to the contest booth located next to the ice cream area. Entries must be at the booth by 8:30 a.m. Judging will take place at 9 a.m. and winners will be announced immediately. Winners do not need to be present to win. The first three place winners will receive a cash prize. There are no age requirements -- young or old can enter and anyone can win.
Last year's winners include Gavin Goforth of Lake Geneva and Norma Botma and Sue Thelen of Elkhorn.
If you do enter the contest, remember to use at least two dairy products. Margarine, Cool Whip and eggs are not considered dairy products.
