The Janesville Aces came out on top in a marathon baseball game Sunday afternoon.

Brothers Mike and Tanner Davis combined to allow just one unearned run, and Charlie Meyer blasted a home run to lead off the bottom of the 13th inning, leading the Aces to a 2-1 Rock River League victory over Neosho at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.

“You could say we were pretty excited,” Mike Davis said. “Everybody played extremely well both ways. Those kinds of games are fun.”

Janesville got on the scoreboard right away in the first inning when Mitch Perkins walked, Jake Parrott singled and Ryan Marro drove Perkins in with an RBI single.

Mike Davis pitched the first 11 innings, allowing only one run in the third when a Neosho batter reached on an error, was moved over on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single.

“There were three innings in the middle where I threw less than 10 (pitches), so that helped stretch it out a bit,” Davis said. “I felt OK, so I just kept going.”

Tanner Davis eventually relieved him and got out of jams in both the 12th and 13th innings.

Each time, Neosho had a runner at third base with less than two outs but could not score.

Meyer then led off the 13th with his fourth hit of the game, a homer to left field.

Janesville, which improved to 4-3 with the victory, hosts the Madison Black Sox at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

• Milton 9, Madison 2—The host Raptors scored three runs in the first inning on their way to a victory that pulled them back into a tie for first place in the division with Neosho at 6-1.

With one out in the first, Joe Shere singled, and Josh Shere followed with a double. Dave Sagitis knocked them both in with a single, and catcher Tyler Allison followed with an RBI double.

“It was huge to get three right away,” Milton coach Doug Welch said. “This was a good bounce-back win for us after losing at Clyman last weekend and not playing well in the Fort Atkinson tournament. It was just a good team win.”

The Raptors added a run in the second and got four more in the fifth. Sagitis and Allison each added another RBI in that rally.

Pitcher Sean McCann went eight strong innings, giving up two runs while striking out eight and walking five to earn the win.

Milton plays a consolation game in the Fort tournament Thursday before two RRL games next weekend—at Neosho on Saturday and at home against Watertown on Sunday.
